HOW DO I CONFIGURE THE DIFFERENT MODES ON MY DIR-605L?

    2. The DIR-605L offers 5 different modes. Please select the mode you want to configure:


      Wireless Router
      Access Point
      WDS
      WDS +AP
      WDS +Router





      Wireless Router Mode






      Wireless Router mode is the default mode of the DIR-605L

      Access Point Mode





      Access Point mode allows the router to be used as an Access Point Only. All Router features will be disabled when selecting this mode.


      Note: The DIR-605L must be connected to an existing network or another router to function properly.


      Step 1: From a computer that is connected to the DIR-605L (wired or wireless), Open your Internet browser and type the IP address of the router in the address bar. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. At the router login page, the default username is admin and there is no password

      Note: If you have forgotten this password, you will have no choice but to reset the router to factory defaults.

      Reset Procedure: With the router powered on, Press and hold the reset button (on the back of the router) for 10 seconds and release. The lights on the front of the router should all flash and reboot.)





      Step 2: At the Current Network Settings Page, click Manual Setup





      Step 3: Click on the Setup Tab at the top of the page and click Wireless Connection on the left


      Step 4: Click Manual Wireless Connection Setup






      Step 5: From the Wireless Mode drop down box, select Access Point


      Step 6: Enter a Wireless Network Name and wireless password (if needed) and Click Save Settings





      Step 7: You will now lose connection to the DIR-605L. Plug your DIR-605L into your existing router or network using only the LAN ports (Do not plug anything into the WAN/INTERNET Port)


      Setup is Complete.

      WDS Mode







      WDS mode allows the router to act as a wireless multi-point bridge. It will wirelessly connect two or more DIR-605Ls together to create an expanded WIRED network


      WDS mode allows the router to be used as a bridge only. All Router features will be disabled when selecting this mode. The "MAIN" DIR-605L must be connected to an existing network or router.


      Note: WDS mode does not offer any wireless signal for devices to connect. The WDS wireless signal is invisible and can only be seen by other DIR-605Ls. in WDS Mode.


      Note: To use WDS mode, you must have two or more DIR-605Ls. Other brands or models are not compatible.


      Step 1: From a computer that is connected to the DIR-605L #1 (wired or wireless), Open your Internet browser and type the IP address of the router in the address bar. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. At the router login page, the default username is admin and there is no password

      Step 7: Select your Bridge Security (D-Link suggests - WPA2-PSK (AES))


      Step 8: In the Network Key box, enter a wireless password for your WDS connection (8-64 characters)


      Click Save Settings


      Repeat steps on 2nd DIR-605L.


      Note: You need to ensure that the Wireless Channel and Bridge Security type/Network Key are exactly the same on all DIR-605Ls in your WDS network.


      Setup is Complete.

      WDS +AP Mode

      Step 7: Under Wireless Security Mode, select the wireless security type for your wireless signal (D-Link suggests WPA/WPA2)


      Step 8: Under WPA/WPA2, enter your wireless password in the Network Key box (The Password must be 8-64 characters)


      Step 9: Under Bridge Setting, in Remote AP MAC 1. Enter the MAC address of your 2nd DIR-605L.
