THE WINDOWS 10 APRIL 2018 UPDATE WILL BECOME AVAILABLE BEGINNING MONDAY APRIL 30TH

It’s official, Microsoft will release the Windows 10 April 2018 update on Monday, April 30. Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President, Windows and Devices Group announced the news in a blog post today, highlighting that new features such as Timeline and Focus Assist will help Windows 10 users make the most of their time.
Interestingly, Microsoft went to “Spring Creators Update” (the naming was initially spotted in the Windows 10 Feedback Hub) to “Windows 10 April Update,” before finally settling for “Windows 10 April 2018 Update.” There is nothing really wrong with this naming, and Microsoft obviously chose something that all of us can remember in the long run.
Previous rumours suggested that Microsoft could release this major update during Build 2018, but the company ultimately chose to release it on the last day of April. The road to the public release has been quite bumpy, as Microsoft was initially expected to release the April 2018 update on April 10. Unfortunately, the company discovered a blocking bug in the build 17133, which led to the release of build 17134 a couple of days later. Medhi didn’t say it explicitely today, but this is the build that should be available to download starting April 30.
In addition to Timeline and Focus Assist, the Windows 10 April 2018 update introduces several new features including an improved Dictation feature, a redesigned Game Bar, support for Progressive Web Apps PWAs), several improvements to Microsoft Edge and more. Stay tuned to OnMSFT as we’ll be diving into more details in the days ahead.
